Hi, I’m Angelica. I’m a developmental and social psychologist.

How do social forces govern how we experience connection and relationships? How do norms, like feminine and masculine norms, shape our capacity for closeness?

These questions guide all of my investigations into what happens to our relationships, our communities, and ourselves when those norms fail us. Here, and in my empirical research at The London School of Economics and Political Science, I show how expectations about masculinity and femininity influence the shape of our social networks stretching from childhood friendships to adult romantic intimacy.

My book, Men Without Men, will be published by Simon & Schuster in the United States and Penguin Random House in the United Kingdom and Canada in January 2028. Translations will be available internationally in Japan, France, Spain, Germany, Brazil, along with others. Updates about when it can be ordered will be posted here.

This blog is a sort of newsletter and sketchpad. In it I put the things I can’t publish elsewhere: interviews with the press, writing that didn’t make it into my book, or topics I’m curious about and need to investigate on my own terms.
